What is online learning?

Online learning is an option for people who wish to learn in their own environments and comfort zones. This self-paced format allows each person to fulfill their own personal requirements at times that fit their schedule. Because the bulk of instruction is offered via a computer and over the Internet, the work can be completed anywhere there is an Internet connection at any time of the day or night.

All course materials, exercises, videos, newsletters, seminars, discussions, and review take place online using Sealed Mindset's learning management system.

To customize a seminar outside of the online learning program, for example to discuss safety on college campuses or child self-defense, please contact the Sealed Mindset team: info@sealedmindset.com.

What is a Learning Management System (LMS)?

A LMS is a software for delivering, tracking and managing training/education. The Sealed Mindset LMS is a system that manages training and educational records of our students to distribute courses over the Internet while at the same time providing features for online collaboration. Most LMS are web-based to facilitate access to learning content and administration. We use this system to enhance and support any courses offered to larger populations of learning across the country.

Some benefits of LMS include:
  • Immediate access to training
  • No lag time for new students
  • Reduces costs per course
  • Fit self-paced learning into downtime
  • Delivers training with greater consistency
  • Keeps track of results of individual questions
  • Provides online reports of student activity
  • Completely customizable
  • Simple, secure web-based training
Who can enroll in the Sealed Mindset online personal awareness training curriculum?

Anyone who wishes to learn more about personal safety and security can enroll in this curriculum.

While this curriculum is not designed for individuals currently serving in Special Operations or in the law enforcement community, it is available for any man or woman over the age of 18 who wants to protect himself, herself or a loved one.

What is the format of Sealed Mindset's online personal awareness training program?

Your time will be spent reading or listening to the curriculum's storyline, interacting in the student forum, engaging in interactive exercises online, or practicing your new Navy SEAL mindset in your daily life. You will also be asked to reflect on your experiences as you learn new awareness skills and apply new personal safety knowledge.

There is no requirement to be online on a specific day or time since Sealed Mindset is a self-paced program to be completed whenever is convenient for your schedule.

What are the prerequisites for enrolling in the Sealed Mindset curriculum?

If you have concerns with respect to your family, such as child self-defense or safety on college campuses, or if you have a concern for your own personal safety, this is the course for you!

There are no prerequisites other than possessing an open mind and a desire to learn. Online students should be comfortable using a computer and email.

How will I interact with the Sealed Mindset Team?

Before you choose to enroll in our program, you can access a FREE LESSON or a SAMPLE LESSON to begin to learn about your personal safety and how the Sealed Mindset educational model works.

You can also choose to enroll in our Introduction to Personal Safety course ($9.98) or to read more about our course offerings by clicking on the "more information" button from both the Men's and Women's Curriculum pages.

Can I enroll in just one lesson, or do I have to enroll in the first 10 lessons?

When you enroll in Sealed Mindset, you enroll in the first lesson block of ten lessons called 15 Seconds to Safety. We do not offer any of these lessons individually, as they are all meant to support each other as a learning progression.

Are there any additional materials I need to start the curriculum?

You need access to a computer connected to the Internet.

How do I navigate Sealed Mindset?

The Sealed Mindset course site is very similar to reading a book via a web page. It contains buttons that can be clicked on to lead to additional pages or information.

Sealed Mindset also offers interactive features like exercises, presentations, videos, newsletters, and hyperlinks that you can enjoy on your computer. There will also be a discussion forum to share your thoughts with other students.

Can I download each lesson?

You cannot download any of the lessons, but you can print your answers or any deliverables at the end of each lesson by going to your virtual locker. You are able to save your work at any time as you go through each lesson, so that you can start where you last stopped.

What is a virtual locker?

Your virtual locker is the storage area that the Sealed Mindset Team of personal safety consultants creates when you enroll in the course. Your answers to personal development quiz questions will be kept securely until you are ready to access and review them later in the learning process.

This storage area, accessible by clicking on "Locker" in the navigation tool bar, gives you access to additional learning materials such as practical exercises, articles to read, and quiz results.

Any time the Sealed Mindset course asks you to submit your answers for a task or exercise, you will be required to click on the "submit results" button to send your answers to your secure virtual locker.

Will this online personal awareness training and family safety program require much studying and preparation?

The Introduction to Personal Safety personal awareness training product for women is a lesson with three short modules of 15 minutes each. This course provides a good foundation before beginning the 15 Seconds to Safety course.

The 15 Seconds to Safety 10-lesson course for men and women can be completed at a pace of 1 lesson per week, although lessons can be completed more rapidly depending upon your schedule.

A lesson can be paused at any time because the program is smart enough to return you to that exact point of learning. If you pause for longer than 15 minutes, then make sure you log back in before you begin.

A lesson should take between 1.0 and 2.5 hours depending upon your personal schedule, your reading speed, and your ability to practice the activities outside of the curriculum environment.

Will I be certified upon completion of this course?

Sealed Mindset will provide you with a certificate of completion at the end of each block of 10 lessons and at the completion of any short modules.

What types of continuing education does Sealed Mindset offer?

Our team offers short modules across the following topics:
  • Corporate Travel Security
  • Child Safety & Mindset
  • Child Self-Defense
  • Home Security
  • Tips for Safety on College Campuses
When can I take a continuing education course?

The Sealed Mindset team provides continuing education courses once a student has taken the 15 Seconds to Safety online personal awareness training. Upon completion of 15 Seconds to Safety, a student can sign up for safety on college campuses or any of the other short modules.

Can I sign up with a friend or group?

When you sign up and enroll with Sealed Mindset, you sign up individually. You can interact with your friends or a larger group through the online forum and by discussing your lessons in person once each friend enrolls.
